Our Story

Rainbow Yarns was born out of a passion for all things woolly and colourful. My first real introduction to wool was at a spinning demonstration at a local agricultural show. I began to go to their meetings and learnt how to spin, soon progressing to a love of fibre which included rug making, knitting, felting and weaving. Several years later, I had the opportunity to create a business out of my hobby and Rainbow Yarns opened its doors in November 2015.

It has been a joy to create a place of creativity where people can come, not only for their supplies, but for a chat, advice and a bit of company. I want my shop to be a place where anyone and everyone feels comfortable and included.

Rainbow Yarns is constantly developing. We stock a good range of British wools because I am keen to support our British wool industry, but we also stock other wool blends and I pride myself on sourcing interesting yarns at affordable prices. We are based in the heart of Rothbury, Northumberland and welcome customers both new and old. Whether you are an expert, or a beginner I am here to help you achieve your goals.
